Unfortunately Mother Nature has not been kind to us these last few days. Our ski and snowshoe trails are currently not in good shape, and the road leading to our Chalet is very slippery.

As such, we will be CLOSED today (Friday, Dec 4) and tomorrow (Saturday, Dec 5). Our expert volunteers will reassess conditions tomorrow and we will post an update as soon as we have one for Sunday.

Rain, Rain, Go Away,
Come again... in May?

We're closed today due to this not-so-lovely rain Mother Nature has decided to send our way, and we ask everyone to please stay off the trails until this messy weather is over and we've had a chance to groom!

We will provide an update once conditions have improved and we've got our trails ready to go. In the meantime, please feel free to break out your best snow dance for us!

With opening weekend upon us, please review the following updates and reminders about how Birch Brook will look a little different this season:

- To start, we will be implementing a maximum capacity of 10 people inside the chalet at one time. We fully expect to be busy this weekend, so if you know you need access to the chalet, please come prepared to wait outside just in case. We do have benches outside the lower entrance so people can get their gear on outside as well.

- While inside the...

Our fantastic volunteers were out in full force yesterday to get our trails packed and groomed. So far, we've got the Games and Rabbit Run trails ready to rock with the Piston Bully, and we are aiming to have more trails ready to open before Saturday morning. We've also got our wide variety of snowshoe trails just waiting for eager snowshoe enthusiasts to pack them down!

Opening Weekend hours of operation will be today and tomorrow from 12noon-4pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10am-4pm! Our chalet will be open, and we will have trail passes and equipment rentals available to anyone that needs them.

Friendly Reminder!

Dogs are permitted on our trails during the summer/fall hiking season; however, we ask that you keep them on a leash at all times while on our trails. This is to ensure the dog's safety should you encounter other dogs or wildlife, as well as out of respect for other trail users that may be fearful of dogs.

Please do your part in making our trails a safe and enjoyable space for all users!

Fall is in the air and brush-cutting efforts are in full swing at Birch Brook to get our trails ready for snow! Brush is gradually being cleared throughout our trail system, and currently the area in front of the chalet is clear, as is Robin's Route, Brook Trail and Gosling View Trail. Our volunteers will be tackling Games Trail next, and then working on our outer trails.

So how can you help? If you're out for a hike or run on our trails, please take some time to pick up any brush that's been...

Like many other organizations in our community and province, we at Birch Brook have been forced to reevaluate our operations in response to recommendations of social distancing to help suppress the spread of Covid-19.

As such, we have made the decision to CLOSE our facility until further notice.

Please know that this decision was not made lightly; however, the health and safety of our members and guests must take priority in this unprecedented and ever-evolving situation.

With this closure comes the cancellation of all events, programming, and rentals. Those individuals affected by these cancellations will be contacted directly by email with additional information.

Stay safe, Birch Brook fans. And stay healthy!
