Fall is in the air and brush-cutting efforts are in full swing at Birch Brook to get our trails ready for snow! Brush is gradually being cleared throughout our trail system, and currently the area in front of the chalet is clear, as is Robin's Route, Brook Trail and Gosling View Trail. Our volunteers will be tackling Games Trail next, and then working on our outer trails.

So how can you help? If you're out for a hike or run on our trails, please take some time to pick up any brush that's been left on the trails and simply throw it well off the trail. If we all do a little bit we will get a lot done together. Getting this brush off the trails now not only makes next years' work much easier, but prevents our grooming equipment from hooking it, which could damage both our precious groomer and our beautiful trails!

While work is ongoing to prepare our trails for snow, we are also working hard to prepare our Chalet to re-open for the 2020-2021 ski and snowshoe season! There are many new factors to consider in light of Covid-19 but we are actively planning to open the lower level of our Chalet to start, and to offer our Jackrabbit Program so that everyone will be able to enjoy fresh air and exercise on our beautiful trails. As we work out all of the details of our re-opening plan, we will be sure to share them with you.

In the meantime, don't forget that Fall is an absolutely beautiful time at Birch Brook. Head out for a run or a hike to enjoy the ever-changing and colourful leaves, and feel free to fire any stray branches you see on the trails off into the woods for us!

We can't wait to see you on the trails again!
